ART
This week in art, we concluded our exploration of Kandinsky’s techniques, and the children showcased their creativity by creating vibrant leaves inspired by the music they heard.
They then participated in an anonymous voting process using unifix cubes to select the leaf they felt best captured the essence of the music.
Science
In Science this week, the children wrapped up their unit on seasonal change by exploring and observing the differences among various types of pumpkins. We have observed seasonal change from the end of summer to autumn and they know differences that occur in the different seasons. They have also become weather experts in this unit by measuring rainfall, observing weather time and creating charts to show this.
In our experiment they began by predicting the outcome of cutting the pumpkins open. Next, they carefully measured and combined dish soap, bicarbonate of soda, and vinegar, making predictions about the reactions that would occur when these ingredients were mixed. After conducting the experiment, the children documented their observations of the fizzing and bubbling that took place as a result.
