First Aid and Medicines

Bumped Head Wristbands

The school issues wristbands for children who have bumped their heads whilst at school. This is to make sure all school staff are aware that the child has had a bump to the head and that they will be monitored. A telephone call will be made to parents/carers where necessary. We have brought in these measures as medical slips can be lost. At school we will monitor the child for signs of concussion.
If your child comes home with a wristband, please still monitor for symptoms of concussion and if worried please contact NHS on 111 or www.nhs.uk

First Aid and Medical Arrangements at Bozeat Community Primary School

All staff have received basic first aid training. In addition some members of staff have the First Aid at Work qualification and the Paediatric First Aid qualification.
You will be informed of any first aid your child receives.

Administration of medicines

If your child has any specific medical conditions, please contact the Class Teacher in the first instance. Dependent on the condition we may need you to complete a more detailed medical form to keep on file.

If your child requires any medication in school, please fill in a green medication form (copies available from the school office). All medication must be handed to either the Class Teacher or the school office.

Inhalers are kept in a secure location in each class. All other medication is kept in the school office or staffroom. When collecting medicines at the end of the school day, this must be handed back to adult. We are unable to hand medication out to pupils to take home.

PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING EXPIRY DATES AND FOR ENSURING REPLACEMENTS ARE ARRANGED.
