Our School Day

Please see below a timetable of a typical school day.

7.45am Breakfast Club
The breakfast club meets daily from 7.45am and is an opportunity for parents to bring their child early to eat breakfast (usually cereal and toast and a drink) and be cared for by staff until the start of morning supervision. There is a daily charge of £5.00 per child. We also offer an Early Birds Club starting at 8.30am with a charge of £1.25 per child.

8:40am Gates Open
This is when children should arrive at school ready to go into class for the start of the school day.

8:50am Gates Close/Registration
This is the official start of the school day. Children should be sat in class ready to learn. Any children arriving after this time must be signed in by parents in the main school office.

10.45am Breaktime
Mid-morning break is for 15 minutes. Children may bring in a healthy snack. All children in Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage benefit from a free piece of fruit daily, and all children have the opportunity to purchase a carton of milk through the Cool Milk scheme. Children under the age of 5 are automatically entitled to a free carton of milk.

Pre-School and Reception children have continual access to the outdoor area throughout the day and there are no designated playtimes.

Lunchtime
Our lunchtimes are slightly staggered to enable school meals to be served without the need for a long queue.

Children in Preschool have their lunch at 11.30am, followed the children in Reception at 11.50am.

Children in Year 1, and Year 2 typically have lunch in the hall at 12:00pm. Following this, they have a lunch playtime until 1:00pm.

Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 children begin their lunch break at 12.00pm with a lunch playtime and then typically have lunch in the hall at 12:30pm and end at 1.00pm.

Hot School Meals (provided by Wollaston Catering)
Our school kitchen provides hot school dinners which meet all nutritional recommendations. Children may select which days they would like to have lunch and parents order and pay online using Parent Pay. All Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 pupils are entitled to order a free lunch, plus those Key Stage 2 children eligible for pupil premium. Orders for meals must be made in advance by the Wednesday of the week before. The school office is happy to provide any support needed when ordering lunches.

Lunchtime Playtime
Lunchtime is supervised indoors and outdoors, by a team of support staff who help to acknowledge and promote positive play and happy communal eating. Our Year 6 Sports Leaders also help organise various different sporting activities for children to enjoy.

The same, positive expectations of behaviour apply at lunchtimes as in lesson times, whether indoors or outside. There is a first aider on duty at lunchtimes at all times.

1:00pm Afternoon Registration and Lessons

3:30pm End of the School Day
At the end of the day, Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage children are collected from their classrooms. If parents wish, children in Year 5 and 6 may walk to and from school unaccompanied once the school has been informed. All children are advised to return to their class or to the office if the person usually meeting them is not there, or if there are any concerns.
