Week Beginning 28th April
It has been lovely to see everyone back for our first full week of the term and what lovely weather we have had. We have welcomed some new preschool children this term who have settled really well.
The children had an amazing time on Monday and Tuesday taking part in balance bike training. They learnt how to check the air in the tyres, check the brakes and bell and also learnt about wearing a helmet and wearing appropriate footwear and clothing. They played lots of different games designed to improve their balance and gliding skills on the bikes.
Maths
The children have been looking at all the different ways they can partition and make 10.
Literacy
The children have been thinking about their favourite zoo animals. We imagined the zoo would loan us an animal for the day and then we all wrote our own letter requesting an animal!
The children also learnt about the lifecycle of a chicken. They watched a short film clip of a chick hatching from an egg.
Next week the children will be learning a little about VE Day and why we celebrate it. To commemorate this, the children are invited to wear red, white and blue clothes on Thursday and take part in a whole school shared lunch outside.
They will be doing lots of comparison in Maths, using the language around this. We will also be learning our new class story for the term which is ‘Dear Zoo.’
