Rabbits Week Beginning 28th April

29 April 2025
Rabbits

This week we have listened to an assembly about road safety and we had amazing ideas about how to become road safety heroes.

In History we have started to learn about the history of the first flight. We delved way back in history to find out about the greek myth of Icarus and how he inspired many modern inventors to look at animals to inspire their flight. We also looked at inventions by Leonard Da Vinci. We noticed that he was inspired by birds and bats wings. He used their structure to design wings capable of flight.

In Maths this week Year 1 have been learning about grouping and sharing amounts. They have looked at whole amounts of objects and worked out how to group them into 2s, 5s and 10s.

In Maths Year 2 have been continuting on their fractions journey and have understood further about quarters and thirds. They have been able to find amounts of numbers, parts of lines and shapes and have answered real life- pizza themed problems to make sure that everyone gets their fair share.

In Design Technology we are continuing our woodwork learning. We are learning to construct kites that are capable of flight. Last week we researched what a kite is and what materials we would need to garther in order to construct one. This week we have focused on learning the parts of the kite and exploring what would happen to our kites if we did not build that part into our own.
