Week Beginning 3rd March
We are at the end of another busy week. On Tuesday the children helped to make pancakes and enjoyed eating them! At the end of the day they had great fun participating in some quick pancake races on the playground – thank you to those parents who arrived ten minutes earlier to watch this.
Thursday was World Book Day, the children looked amazing in their Julia Donaldson themed costumes. During the day they took part in a range of activities such as using playdough to make Superworm, making magic potions in the water tray and making magic wands out of sticks. Well done to the winner of our class costume competition who took home an Easter egg. Thank you to all parents for engaging in this and providing your child with a costume.
Maths
This week the children have continued to learn number doubles, using these to look at odd and even numbers up to 10. Next week they will be looking at ordering numbers and the composition of numbers 9 and 10.
Literacy
The children used their imagination to describe what they think the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk looks like. They created wanted posters, drawing a picture of the giant and writing sentences to descibe him. Next week they will be learning the class story of Jack and the Beanstalk, using a story map to help them.
Next week is National Science Week and this year’s theme is change and adapt. We will be using caterpillars to engage with this theme and the children will also be taking part in a junk rhythms workshop on Tuesday. On Thursday they will take part in their second tennis coaching session, please ensure their PE kits remain in school for this.
