Week Beginning 10th March
This week the children have been thinking about adapt and change for National Science week. We talked about camouflage and how animals & insects use this to protect themselves from predators. The children played a game with woolen caterpillars, hiding them for people to find – some were very well camouflaged and were not spotted until a day later! The children also enjoyed using their funky finger skills to make their own paper chain caterpillars.
In Pe the children have been working on walking in a straight line using heel toe steps. They were challenged further by walking in a straight line across a beam or a bench.
The children have also helped to create a story map for Jack and the Beanstalk and have enjoyed making models/ role playing the story. They were also challenged to make an egg carrier for Jack to carry the golden egg.
Next week we will be looking out for the signs of Spring. The children will continue with their daily dough disco and funky finger activities and also name writing. There will also be lots of activities to help them count and order numbers up to 10. It is also Red Nose Day on Friday & children are welcome to come to school wearing something red/ mufti.
