Homework Year 1
Homework Year 2
Computing
This week, we delved into the exciting world of Digital Art, embarking on our first challenge to create self-portraits using the tools available on Paintz.app. As we familiarized ourselves with the primary buttons, we turned our attention to the artwork of Mondrian, who famously utilised straight lines and bold primary colors to craft his masterpieces. Through our exploration, we quickly learned that the line and fill tool was the most effective way to achieve precise straight lines in our creations.
Science
In Science, we have begun our exploration of materials and their properties. During our lesson, students learned to differentiate between an object and the material from which it is made. Most pupils were able to identify and name a range of everyday materials, including wood, plastic, glass, metal, water, and rock. Year One students took their learning further with material munchers to categorise various materials into their appropriate groups. Meanwhile, Year 2 pupils embarked on a material hunt around Key Stage One, discovering diverse materials in their environment. This led to a thought-provoking discussion about why certain materials are unsuitable for specific objects, such as why a saucepan should not be made of fabric, a window of wood, or a playground of glass.
