Science- Seasonal Change

This week we have been learning about the weather in Science.

We worked in small teams to create rain catchers so that we can measure how much rain falls over the next week. We have predicted that next week there will be more than 10ml of rain caught in our rain trackers.

We are also monitoring the weather over time by making our own pictograms. Every day this week at the same time, we stop and observe the weather then use our chart to record what we see. Over the next seven school days we are going to see which day the weather differs.

Computing
This week in Computing, we have been exploring Paintz.app to express our creativity by creating text and drawing with our mouse. Additionally, we engaged in a fun typing game called Dance Mat Typing, which helps us learn the correct finger placement and the letters each finger should press.

Year 2 Maths

In maths this week we have been learning to flexibly partion numbers to 100. We have been using base 10 and our part-part whole model to help us. We have also been using numberlines to count forwards and backwards  in 10s and 1s.

Year 1 Maths

In year 1 Maths lessons we have been using the numberblocks to help us count one less. Counting backwards from ten has been tricky but we have all completed our tricky maths challenges!
On Thursday we started to compare groups by matching. We learned to count carefully the amount in each group to see if they match.

Music
This week in music, we explored the symbols that musicians use to notate pulse. In groups, we stood before the class to showcase a coordinated hand and foot rhythm, while our classmates kept the steady pulse. We also enjoyed a variety of musical pieces, with a particular appreciation for Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5.
